Youth Opportunities (14-17)

Youth Services (16+)

While our day camp does not currently offer a paid staff position for young adults, we do work in cooperation with several area organizations that offer job placement or apprenticeship opportunities for those interested in working within our camp program. Most of these programs are available based on residency, so please contact the appropriate organization for information on the application and placement process, (applicants will often have to request the Nature Center specifically for placement). Many of these programs are highly competitive so early applications are encouraged.

Youth Volunteer (14+)

Young adults that are not eligible for the above programs, and have previously participated in our CIT program, are encouraged to apply to our youth volunteer program to continue building valuable work experience in environmental education. Unlike our CIT program, our youth volunteers do not receive specific group assignments but work more independently within the Center to provide support for our educational staff in the implementation of daily educational programs, including both camp and visitor programs, as well as the care and management of our Animal Ambassadors. Young adults in this program are encouraged to speak with their high school guidance counselor to explore options to gain community service credit for their time, or, to explore options that utilize their contribution in career planning.
